Below are some fun answers to “getting to know you” questions.

What’s your hidden talent Neils?

Golf, most people don’t think I can play as well as I do when they see me but I have caught the golf bug and I love to play.

Neils is an uncommon name. What’s the backstory?

I’m told Neils is a common Danish name and I was named after my great grandfather, who was from Denmark, on my mother’s side. Although, in Denmark it is spelled Nils. (I think my parents misspelled it and just left it).

What’s your nickname?  I’ve never had a nick name, unless you count mispronouncing my name, which happens every day.

What story does your family always tell about you?

Most of the stories I hear are from my Dad and generally about some football accomplishment of mine from a long time ago.

What’s a fun fact about you?

I love to play board and card games. I grew up playing Pinochle and Spite and Malice. Also, my family plays a game similar to Yahtzee but called Yogi. Same basic concept as the popular dice game but with some tweaks that make our game better

What was your very first job?

My first job was for a small fencing company called Kenwood Fence. This was a Summer job between my freshman and sophomore years of high school. It was very hard work and helped me to understand what I didn’t want to do when I was done with school.

I probably shouldn’t have (fill in the blank) …

Eaten that second piece of cake!

Have you ever had a “bad ass” moment?

Not sure, but I was pretty thrilled when I got a hole in one at Olympic Club 2 months before they hosted the U.S. Open.

What is the one skill needed to be successful?

Passion more than anything else.  If you are passionate about anything you will generally be successful.

What’s your favorite book?

Hard to say, I haven’t had much time to read lately with the three young ones running around but I was a big fan of all the Harry Potter books.

What’s your favorite film?

Generally anything with Bill Murray. Some of my favorites are Stripes, Quick Change, and Kingpin.

If you could choose anyone, who would you choose as a mentor?

My Dad, I have looked up to him my whole life and I couldn’t think of a better person to try and emulate.

What super hero do you most associate with?

Associate with, probably not, but I would love to fly so having some of Superman’s powers would be awesome.
